The first court hearing on the case of Vyacheslav Harutyunov, the former head of the body of former RA MP Gagik Tsarukyan's bodyguard, Prosperous Armenia MP Eduard Babayan, has just begun at the Avan and Nor Nork residence of the Yerevan Court of First Instance.

According to Haykakan Zhamanak daily, defendant Vyacheslav Harutyunov and his lawyer Roman Sargsyan have appeared in court. The prosecutor in charge of the case is Vardges Sargsyan.

Recall, Harutyunov is the person who reported on July 2, 2018, that Eduard Babayan was beaten at “Olympavan” Sports Complex by Gagik Tsarukyan. Eduard Babayan has been charged with using violence against Vyacheslav Harutyunov, the father of Nikolai Harutyunov, the gold medalist of the World Youth Championship, during the dispute and causing grievous bodily harm. At the trial, however, Harutyunov insisted he did not consider himself a victim. On June 4, Eduard Babayan was found guilty under Article 112 (1) of the RA Criminal Code (intentional infliction of serious harm to health), sentenced to 3 years and 6 months imprisonment, and amnesty.
