Naira Harutyunyan, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Investigation Committee, wrote on her Facebook page: “Urgent investigative and other procedural, operative-investigative measures continue to be taken in the General Investigation Department of the RA Criminal Investigation Committee in order to find out the circumstances of the death of former Director of the NSS Georgi Kutoyan.
     According to preliminary data, on January 17, 2020, at 2:30 pm, the Operative Management Center of the Yerevan Police Department received an alert that Georgy Kutoyan committed suicide in one of the apartments of Paruyr Sevak Street.
     On the assignment of the Chairman of the RA Investigation Committee Hayk Grigoryan, Deputy Chairman of the RA Penitentiary, Head of the General Department of Investigation Artur Melikyan and Deputy Chief of the General Investigation Department of the RA State Police, V.M. Mesropyan. An investigative team has been set up at the SCA General Department.

A criminal case was initiated in connection with the case under Article 110 (1) of the RA Criminal Code.
     An investigative and procedural action plan has been developed. Investigation was carried out at the scene, during which 35 bullets and 6 bullets were found on the small table in front of the sofa in the living room (on the body of G.      At the same time, information was received that at the end of December 2019, G. Kutoyan visited the apartment alone, where, after drinking alcohol, he fired 35 illegal shots from his Glock 34 pistol on the dividing wall of the living room and kitchen.
