Mnatsakan Bichakhchyan, Head of the Passport and Visa Department of the RA Police, warns Armenian citizens about a strange incident.

On his Facebook page, Bichakhchyan wrote:

“Today I was approached by a citizen who reported an incident that caused many people to become victims of fraud.
An unknown person on social network (who was later found out), according to a friend in the US, asked to send a copy of his passport to a bank account to transfer money to his son serving in the army.

The person requesting a copy of the passport also asked to have it taken so that the passport holder could also be seen in the image holding the document in hand.
Then the person who received the photos as a friend deactivated their Facebook page.

Please be careful about providing personal data, including copies of documents, and never sharing them with non-authorized persons, including through social media. "
